Chester County Hospital
West Chester, Pennsylvania
The landscape design for the Chester County Hospital creates a memorable approach to the building and provides patients, visitors, and staff with a connection to nature. The entrance courtyard features a landform rising out of a colorful and textured native landscape. Upon entering the building visitors encounter a central courtyard. This space functions as an extension to the lobby, bringing dappled sunlight into the space through the foliage of Ginkgo trees. Overlooking this courtyard is an upper level exterior space, gving visitors access to private spaces surrounded by perennials, climbing vines, and tree canopy. Across the corridor from this space is another courtyard, featuring a four season garden of evergreens, foliage plants and flowering perennials. This project is currently under construction, with an anticipated completion in the summer of 2020.
